I was blessed to
witness this glorius sunrise years ago over El Cerro de los Remedios,
named in honor of the "Nuestra Senora de los Remedios" by
the Spanish conquistadores, who came to southwest New Mexico. The peak
has had numerous name changes as has the statue whose photo have attached
here. This statue was brought by the Spanish to New Mexico in about
1625. I have lived near the shadow of this mountain, whick is now called Cooke's Peak, most of my life. As a result, I have many photos with it in the background. Some years back I climed it's lofty peak, where eagles soar. I find peace knowing my "Remedios" are always near my heart. |
